Horizons is important to education.
It offers an opportunity for children
to learn in an atmosphere that is
conducive to teamwork, skill
building and fun.  My goal as a
teacher is for my students to have
so much fun that they never see
learning as work.

I like Horizons because the
teachers are nice and because
they give us food and snacks. I  eat
and I learn and I like Reading
Time. The teacher always takes us
to the library and we get to take
books home and read. I like
Horizons because I don't get into
trouble. Horizons is my favorite
place.

Horizons is the best. It's fun and we
learn fun things. I did not go to
Summer School because I passed
all my subjects and wanted to
come to Horizons. We do art and
tennis and we even had a Field
Day. It was so much fun. Ms.
MacPherson is my favorite teacher.
She taught us life lessons. I am
going to work hard so that I can be
a counselor in Horizons.

I like Horizons because I get to take
books home to read and I can spell
now. I like the teachers and the
counselors and Ms. MacPherson
because they like us. I talk to Ms.
MacPherson every morning and
my day gets better. I like the
countries and stuff that we learned
and I also like the food we eat. I
am sad that we only have one
more week. I wish it was all the
time.

Horizons is fun. I like playing
basketball and going to the pool.
This year we learned about
Australia and other countries. I
really enjoyed that because it was
interesting. We made our own
globes from balloons and we made
a mess but it was a nice mess. I
also like field day. We had relays
and played tug of war. I like
Horizons and am coming back
every year.

Horizons is a place to learn and play,
When you go home your parents know that
you had a good day.
When you come back in the morning
all the children say "Hooray!"
Now I know I am going to have a good day.
If I need help, I can ask a teacher and she'll say:
"Sure, I can help you in any way!"
So I ask many questions every single day.
Horizons is here to stay,
We thank you for helping us to learn and play,
So please help Horizons stay.
Thank you all and have a good day!
When I showed up at Horizons, I
thought it would just be another
day of work. When I walked in at
9:00am, without saying a word, six
kids walked up to me and gave me
a hug. Horizons struck my heart
deeply, my favorite days were the
days at the swimming pool. The
kids would jump on me, it brought
back that feeling of being needed.
I found myself going to camp
earlier than usual just to sit with the
kids in the hallway and play with
them until school began.

Horizons is an enriching
experience for both the students
and the counselors. I have been
introduced to some bright and
motivated students. Many face
extraordinary challenges outside of
school but all come to camp
enthusiastic and eager to
participate in the day's activities.
Students get reinforcement in
areas that have been
academically challenging and
even get a jump start on next year.
Horizons boosts their confidence to
face the challenges ahead. I look
forward to next year.
